UKIE has announced that alongside their upcoming UK PC digital sales chart will be an account of Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network titles as well, thanks to 'changed attitudes'.

They're "in conversations" about the digital data for Xbox 360 and PS3. It couldn't be done before because "people were touchy about data." PC data starts in the coming weeks.

The video games industry can finally catch up with music which has already been measuring digital sales for ages. We'll get a more truthful account of the games market.

"We’re in conversations about XBLA and PSN,” UKIE chairman Andy Payne said. “Because they are very important as well. “You could argue that we should have started with that. And I wouldn’t disagree. At the time, people were touchy about data. But attitudes have changed amongst content owners and platform holders.”

It's about time digital stores got as much prestige as the high street retailers.
