The upcoming Tomb Raider reboot will be enjoying a worldwide release, as announced by Crystal Dynamic on the game's official site. If that weren't enough, development has hit a milestone, as the game has reached alpha status.

The latter news was revealed by the developer's official podcast, Crystal Habit. According to senior producer Kyle Peschel and art director Brian Horto, all of the actual content has been finished, and the next job for the devs are to work on removing bugs and making the core game mechanics run smoothly.

The developer is aiming for a 2012 release date for Tomb Raider, to be launched on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

Wonderful... this game looks great, and also a huge change from the normal Tomb Raider, as I understand it.

Wow, I almost forgot that on my "to look forward to 2012" list the other day...

Yeah,I hope it has something new to add as well and not a bunch of timed key presses to be able to avoid getting impaled by rusty spikes press X-Y-A-A and similar.
It wasn't fun in the MW games and when you hardly saw the text you simply wondered what the heck happened...

Oh and if you have to spam a key - let that key be the one currently bound to the action key...
