Impulse, the digital distributor now owned by videogame retailer GameStop, has announced that select Valve titles will now be available for purchase on the service.

The games that are available include:

* Portal 2
* Left 4 Dead
* Left 4 Dead 2
* Half-Life Complete
* The Orange Box

Half-Life Complete includes: Half-Life, Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, and Team Fortress Classic.

The Orange Box includes: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal.

Why would Valve release their titles on a Steam rival? Put simply, the games still require the installation of Steam to run, so while Valve is only getting a fraction of the sales, they still get new Steam users.

Interesting method. Keep your friends close, and your enemies even closer. Sometimes, you need to work with your rivals to secure greater success.
