Battlestar Galactica MMO's Bigpoint passes 250m user milestone

Publisher Bigpoint behind such free-to-play MMOs as Battlestar Galactica and Drakensang Online has managed to accumulate over 250 million registered users around the globe.

It's based purely on the number who've signed up to play one of Bigpoint's 60 free-to-play titles. It's a self appointed champion of the 'free model', bemoaning who don't 'get it'.

Whilst the registered user tally is an impressive number by itself, it doesn't reveal how many actually stay on to keep playing the games, or if they actually spend anything.

I'm one of those 250m, even though I only played the thing for ~5 minutes...

I have an account, and played for the first month or aso when it was still a bit wonky. Have been meaning to go back, so this has just jogged my memory banks to do so. I will once more be reporting to Bill Adama in the Ops Room, after securing my new ships in "STO" tonight.

Just picked up both ships, "USS Pegasos" (Science Class) and "IKS H'aides" (Tactical Class). Had to be Greek names, after all. They are bloody big buggers and manoeuvre slowly. First KDF ship I've actually liked, aside from the Vor'cha Class.

I haven't progressed much, still only have the starter ship (USS Roflmao). Might play some this weekend ;)

Trouble with the Bortas is that while it's a big bugger (it's very slow and ponderous), there's no extra firepower over the Negh'Var class and a hull made from eggshells it seems. I hope they attend to it post haste in patches.
