Earlier today, Tim Schafer complained that even though publisher Double Fine owns the rights to Psychonauts outright, no one was "taken the bait" and offered to finance Psychonauts 2.

“I’d love to do that game, but I’d have to convince someone to just give me a few million dollars. That’s all," related Schafer.

Well, it appears that Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson has taken the bait, as he tweeted to Schafer, "@TimOfLegend Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen."

When gaming site Rock Paper Shotgun tweeted to both Schafer and Persson, "Do we report this? Should we report this? JOURNALISM DILEMMA," Notch replied, "Not sure if it's news yet, but when/if it is, you get to at least say it was a result of your tweet. ;D Also, I'm serious."

It remains to be seen whether this is the buildup to an elaborate (and cruel) April Fool's joke or a reality remains to be seen. But a collaboration between Schafer and Persson sounds almost too good to be true.
