Activision has announced the sequel to their smash hit multimedia game Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, which will debut at the North American International Toy Fair in New York from February 12-15. The game is called Skylanders Giants, and will feature even bigger collectible figurines.
Skylanders Giants will build upon the original game, adding a variety of new characters, new challenges, a new story-driven adventure, and even more multimedia integration, This next installment of the franchise features "a variety of new characters, new challenges, (and) a thrilling new story-driven adventure". The game will also include advanced multiplatform functionality, with "advanced integration across console, handheld, mobile and online."
The new game will feature figurines that are more than twice the size of the original Skylanders, and the characters in-game reflect the new scale of the figurines. However, even the eight new regular sized Skylanders will be unique in that they'll actually light up when on or even just near the Portal of Power. Even more impressively, the figurines won't require batteries to light up.
Of course, the older Skylanders will work with Skylanders Giants, so players won't need to re-purchase their figurines.
The new game will also feature new arenas, more gameplay options in Battle Mode for head-to-head play, as well as enhanced Elemental Zones, new Hero Challenges, and more in-game collectibles, as well as integration with the ucpoming Skylanders MMO, Skylanders: Spyro's Universe.
Skylanders Spyro's Adventure was the best-selling kids' franchise worldwide in 2011, as well as the number one overall new IP launched in North America.
