Bohemia Interactive has announced the first downloadable content for their helicopter sim Take On Helicopters. The DLC is called "Hinds" and adds the Mil Mi-24 V, Mi-24 P and Mi-35 Super Hind helicopter gunships, with over 25 different liveries, more single-player challenges, five time trials and a new competitive multiplayer scenario.

As usual, the DLC will bring the most realistic helicopter piloting experience possible, including faithful recreations of the cockpits, flight model, landing gear and weapon systems of the gunships, as well as real-life sampled sound from the actual Hind copters.

Hinds will be available for download from most digital distributors including the Bohemia Store. Players can preorder it for €12.99. If that weren't enough, Bohemia announced a new preorder bundle available on their official store for both Take On Helicopters and the Hinds DLC for €46.99.

I'd try the game just to fly this airborne tank but overall I still would not really be interested. Dedicated flight sims belong in the hands of dedicated flight sim devs, and the reception this title has received from fans of the genre reflect this (not in a good way).

There's a demo on Strategy Informer.

Cool Jonah. I will definitely be checking that out and no doubt making fair comparisons with "DCS: KA-50 Black Shark", knowing full well that that title is a Study Sim, though less so than "DCS: A-10C Warthog" (more fun, than seriously challenging).

Keep in mind the main Take On Helicopters game is commercial aircraft.

I guessed as much. Fine with me, as I flown "MSFS" since the early '90's. Don't need everything to have rockets and guns, though they are quite neat.

Going off-topic, as I do: 777 Studios who make "Rise of Flight", the ever evolving and expanding WWI flight Sim has a new bunch of artists on board. When I say new, I mean new to this game as they are were 3D artists for "IL2: Pacific Fighters" and a load more "IL2" add-ons. Theye were working on a new Korean-based air sim. Instead, they've joined the modelling team on "RoF' and are putting the finishing touches to the new Halberstadt CL.II. Loads more features and additions planned for that game this year.

Sorry - thread hijack:)

PPs: Tried the demo, and while this is a civilian sim (as the demo is based on the main game) it's interesting to note that key commands for "Eject", "Fire", "Lock target", "Countermeasures", "Select missiles" etc. are all there and more. Seems BI weren't planning on staying neutral for long.
The demo kinda, well sucked. The graphics are dreadful, and even if purposely so for the demo, defeats the purpose of a demo. I'll stick with "MSFS" for civvy street.
