Gamers who are interested in the deal can do so on the official page here.

Now this is one way of getting me to play Battlefield 3... too bad I don't support Origin.

I don't know about anyone else, but this doesn't really bode well for "BF3". That's a mighty big freebie they're offering....what's the catch?

The catch is you're using Origin, the same reason Valve gave away Portal or allowed its games to be sold on Origin and other digital distributors.

And the other catch is that half of players cant play BF3 now, cuz of their laziness.

I'll wait for Origin 2.0, the current iteration doesn't seem to be liked that much.

EA will need Include steam as well in the near future 'cos it would have netted them alot more cash..
come on EA & dont be an ass !!!!

EA would have to ditch Origin to go back to Steam, or the latter negotiate more reasonable deals with the release of DLC. In other words, it'll never happen. So far, and correct me if I'm wrong, "BF3" is the only EA/Origin game that actually requires Origin to be running while playing. To lessen the bugs and glitches it's advised you turn off "in-game messaging/updating" and basically everything else offered while Origin is running. It's a mess that EA will not publicly recognise, though in private....

The chances that EA will go back to Steam is almost next to nothing, which is actually a pity, because that means that Dead Space 3 will most probably be Origin... I don't want to be forced to move to Origin, and I know that I can have both Steam and Origin.

EA has gone back to Steam. Often. They sell on Direct2Drive, etc.

They just don't want Valve demanding a cut of the DLC money.

No such mentions on the Swedish version of the Origin site...

The trouble with Direct2Drive (now GameFly), Gamersgate and Impulse is that they are region-locked. In other words, to price gouge Oceania they are simply unavailable to buy through these services. EA/Origin have forced those of us who live in this so called "Red Zone" to purchase on the internet (through EBay and Amazon, if possible) from o'seas thus destroying the digital market further.
I can pre-order a physical copy of "ME3" for $48 on OzGamesshop.com while Origin wants $80 for the digital version. Crazy.

I shall not fall for this cheap trick!

they really must be desperate to put up a deal like this

The suspicious mind may think there's something wrong with "ME3" for this to be offered. The cynic would say it's another attempt by EA to have another stab at the "CoD" market, as "ME3" will be very popular and entice many who've played "TOR" but not a "ME" game. The realist might think it's another attempt by EA to promote the Origin service.
Whatever it may be, it's still a might big freebie.

The reasoning behind why this offer was even considered, let alone announced is still worth exploring.

SirRoderick - at least you will get BF3 that is a rather fun game if you are into FPs games ;)

My problem with these ideas is that EA still has so few games so for this to be a treat - I will have to never buy EA games when I want and wait for them to release something über-cool....
