Rumour: Next Xbox console codenamed 'Durango'
Posted: 16.02.2012 13:28 by Simon Priest Comments: 3
According to a few sources claiming to be close to Microsoft's next console the project has been codenamed Durango. Kotaku says it 'fits' the naming convention at Microsoft.

They argue that the corporate giant favours places of a warm climate like Kinect was once Project Natal, which is a Brazilian city. 'Durango' is a Mexican state name.

Of course we could care less what codename it's got - what are the specs of the Durango beast? Hopefully we won't have to wait too long before Microsoft pull back the sheet to the public.

Who comes up with this nonsense? Sounds like a cowboy console, with "The Durango Kid" immediately springing to mind. These fake names for projects have been around for some time now. The best I remember is everyone on the filming set of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" wore baseball caps and t-shirts with the fake title "Blue Harvest" emblazoned on them.

Durango is the name of a Rocky Mountain town, a resort and a Ford model car.

It's fake in that it won't be the "real" name of the console.
