Swedish developer Starbreeze has announced it is dropping 25 jobs following the completion of Syndicate. The shooter reboot of the 1993 tactical strategy game will be released this coming week.

According to Starbreeze, not all of the jobs being axed are lower level employees, as board member Peter Tornquist will resign as well with no replacement. "It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees. But we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of the Syndicate," said CEO Mikael Nermark in a statement.

Syndicate will be released on the 21st February in North America on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The European release will follow on the 24th. Check out Strategy Informer's preview here.

Looks like most DLC work is already completed then. It would be interesting to know in what areas the job losses occurred and whether they were in fact casual positions planned for termination at this stage....just without notifying the employees.
If most DLC is competed, they really only need staff for further prmotoional work and any issues that arise requiring patches. A shame they just did not move the staff onto a new project, if they have one.
