Rumor: Crytek working on new CryEngine 3 game
Posted: 20.02.2012 19:02 by JonahFalcon Comments: 7
A new job listing on the Electronic Arts careers page seems to indicate that Crytek is gearing up for a new game using the CryEngine 3, which some have taken to indicate that Crysis 3 is in development.

The job listing for a video editor in Guildford, UK states that knowledge of the CryEngine is an asset, and that they would be working "alongside EAGL marketing and Crytek to define the process and work flow."

While this could mean Crysis 3 was in development, there's nothing that says it couldn't be another IP, whether a new one - or perhaps TimeSplitters 4?

Meh, I'm sick and tired of FPS games. WE NEED MORE RTS GAMES!!!

Agreed with civilised urgency.

Crusader Kings was a good start, now give me something along the lines of Supreme Commander and something with 4 X's.

I love FPS games, but they need to get out of the Call of Duty/Halo shadow, and fast. Start innovating again.

I also love my FPS games, but some great RTS games won't be pushed away on my side. Starcraft II is keeping me busy at this stage, but it won't do so forever.

wow - what will it be this time? An even more slow moving shooter? A console love fest or a game that might be *gasp* fun?

Crysis 2 was last years biggest boatload of over-hyped dung and it rode in with Duke Nukem - at least none took Duke seriously...

I agree... Crysis 2 was a big hype, and turned out to be not such a great game... for me at least.

I don't think we have enough FPS games - I love them - it is just that I want more GOOD FPS games and those are more and more rare...
Crysis 2 had an illusion of being good and I bought it even though I was a bit skeptical because I really hoped that it would live up to have a good SP campaign and that MP would be more diversified than the demo.

The SP campaign is really awful and the game-play is sluggish. The MP is a bland history where the unlocks are a bit too powerful and you have a life expectancy of three seconds... The extra abilities that were said to be the second coming failed to impress. It was a nice looking game as long as you didn't crawl up to the textures and saw their pixelated true face and the design and visuals actually impaired the game-play mechanics more than helping it - IMO.
