Xbox Live Arcade exclusive Alan Wake's American Nightmare from Remedy Entertainment may well land on PC much like it's late to arrive older brother, which broke even with 2 days.
PC gaming is part of Remedy's "heritage" assures the studio. "We'll make it happen if we can." While PC gets upgraded to 'maybe', the PlayStation is most certainly not on the agenda.
American Nightmare is set in the game's fictional Twilight Zone-esque TV show where Alan is forced to battle waves of enemies. Alan Wake has done well on PC.
"PC gaming is part of our heritage," declared Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen. "PC gaming is close to our hearts. We'll make it happen if we can." The developer had been nagging Microsoft for a long time to bring the Xbox 360 game to PC and was finally given the nod to go ahead. Remedy was braced for mass PC piracy but it broke even in 2 days.
It's not very likely at all that Alan Wake will cross over to the PlayStation platform. "We didn't develop for PlayStation because our engine is customised for Xbox, not to say we couldn't ever do PlayStation, but it just would have required a lot more work to then start doing it for PlayStation," explained Hakkinen.
"And we had a relationship with Microsoft already. We showed the game to them, and they were like, this is awesome. Let's put it out. Once you've got a relationship going, things are a lot easier."
"Once you've got the hotline to call the right people and say, this is what we're doing, and there's mutual respect there, they say, you guys do quite good stuff, we like it, so come over and show it."
Getting Alan Wake's American Nightmare signed up for XBLA was very different when first approaching Microsoft with the IP for Xbox 360, meaning it could jump to PC much quicker. "We did a lot of the stuff before approaching MS," Hakkinen explained. "We had the game pretty much in the can."
"We self-funded the whole thing. It's like, this is it. Negotiations were very different." Check out what we thought here at Strategy Informer of PC Alan Wake in .
