The BBC is slamming the brake on Doctor Who: The Adventure Games as they focus their attention on other ways to exploit the IP, namely with their new The Eternity Clock project.

The Adventure Games have "done a great job," but the BBC want to move on. The Cardiff team will continue to look at ways of "audience expansion" for the UK license payers.

The group is placing their full might behind the new MMO Doctor Who: Worlds In Time and the March bound The Eternity Clock for PlayStation Vita, powered by UE3.

"Right now there are no current plans to develop any more Adventure Games," making The Eternity Clock "the next Doctor Who gaming exercise and we're doing other things," revealed executive producer Simon Harris.

"Obviously we've got the browser-based MMO Doctor Who: Worlds In Time, we have other plans for other platforms and formats and we'll be announcing those."

"But right now The Adventure Games have done a great job, and they've been done, we're now going to move forward with The Eternity Clock and we'll continue to develop those plans as we go ahead."

The BBC will continue to look for what else they can offer the UK license payer.

"The Adventure Games are actually done by the production team down in Cardiff, and there's a question about now BBC Worldwide is focusing and investing in these developments, that providing audience expansion and providing something that's going to hopefully broaden the Doctor Who audience," he continued.

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games saw over 500k downloads within the first two weeks and surpassed 2.6 million downloads since its 2010 debut. The last instalment was 'Gunpowder Plot' starting the second series. Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock releases for PS Vita next month.
