Electronic Arts has announced on its official Medal of Honor page that Medal of Honor: Warfighter is coming.

"We’re excited to bring you up to speed on the next Medal of Honor, titled Medal of Honor Warfighter. More details to come in the next few weeks." said a spokesperson for EA.

The team also released a poster which they state will give a hint as to the tone of the game, as seen in the image below. It seems to be another shooter set in present day, instead of World War II.

The last Medal of Honor game was released in 2010 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and sold roughly 5M units across the three platforms. The game received a 7.0/10 score in its Strategy Informer review.

Always bought every other MoH COD game since they were pretty similar in the past - and well - that seems to continue now so I guess I'll pass for now.

The old Medal of Honors were great from the original all the way up to Airborne (even if Rising Sun was easy as hell!). I have to agree though, the modern setting is become really worn out, kinda like how WWII was some years back.

Well I'm interested. There are plenty of modern shooters now, correct but none that bring the feeling of authenticity and "being there" that "MoH" had when it was released. For all it's visual glory, "BF3" still feels generic and could be set anywhere and "MW3" is all videogame, no matter how dramatic or controversial the content might be. Being surrounded by the hills of Afghanistan in "MoH" delivered a unique feeling in videogames - that you are actually fighting in that environment. The one you see on the news and in documentaries.
I hope they do the same for this.

The original Medal of Honor titles were the guys who founded Infinity Ward and developed Call of Duty.

The developer Grey Matter ("Call of Duty: United Offensive", "RTCW") merged into Treyarch, as another tidbit. Some are still there today.
