Notch settles with Bethesda over "Scrolls" trademark

The legal dispute between Bethesda Softworks and Markus "Notch" Persson's used of the title Scrolls for his upcoming videogame hybrid of a board game and a collectible card game is finally over.

Person announced the settlement with Bethesda on Twitter, and tweeted the conditions of the agreement: "The settlement is that we give them the trademark get to keep the name, and won't make an Elder Scrolls competitor using the name."

Thus ends one of the more bizarre legal actions in the videogame industry in a long time - at the cost of developer Mojang not creating their own Elder Scrolls-styled roleplaying game, which, of course, was assuredly never going to happen in the first place.

Gamers interested in signing up to engage in the alpha test of Scrolls can do so at the official site here.

Agree with you both - Bethesda just looked stupid and the game do sound intriguing. :)
