Gamers who were sure that Microsoft would be unveiling the next generation of Xbox this year at E3 2012 will have to wait til next year, as the publisher has officially confirmed they will not be introducing any new console.

Microsoft group PR manager Ryan James wrote in a press statement, "While we appreciate all the interest in our long-range plans for the future, we can confirm that there will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon."

"For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360—and it’s the best year ever for Xbox 360. The console is coming off its biggest year ever—a year in which Xbox outsold all other consoles worldwide," James added.

In January, any ideas of the PlayStation 4 also making its debut at E3 were shot down by Sony and industry analyst Michael Pachter.

Ok 2013 then :).

Too bad though, we really need the new consoles to show up soon. All the ports form these 5 year old consoles are getting a bit lame, on the other hand you don't need the latest gfx card to play most of the latest games.

Everyone thinks it's 2013 anyway. Development on 720 games have just begun.

I'll bet IP development for the 720 began at least 8 months ago. They need a strong lineup of launch titles after all.

This is a generation of consoles I think I will leave to to others. Not so intrigued by the development of ideas and concepts so far.
