Electronic Arts internal studio Phenomic has announced that their upcoming free-to-play, browser-based MMORTS Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances has gone into open beta, inviting gamers to try out the new addition to the classic real-time strategy series.

To join the open beta, players only need to visit the official site.

EA Phenomic also announced that rather than reset all of the servers for the new influx of players, they merely opened new servers, including their first German language server.

well it will be worth looking into, but my concern is just how much the game will make micro transactions a "must" to get ahead.

Please educate me: How do folks earn a living if the game is free to play in a browser?

To be honest, if you own "C&C 3" there are so many brilliant Mods out there you hardly need anything else. "Command $ Conquer 3: A New Experience v1.0" is incredible as a complete overhaul. Hate the zoom level in the original, this allows you zoom levels equal to "Supreme Commander"...almost. You can get down and dirty with a Over-the-shoulder perspective (yes, they created skylines) or right out to overhead. Loads of other features as well, from GUI cusomisation to....well read about it yourselves:
