Developer Slant Six has revealed new information about Strata Scavenger, a game that the company earlier in the week. The game is a post-apocalyptic flight sim that's being developed for Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC.
The game will have more in common with Elite than Microsoft Flight Simulator, however, in that there will be a focus on gathering and trading resources. According to senior producer Mike Kerr, the game is partly inspired by the Flash game Motherload, which can be seen .
"You're running out into the world with limited fuel for your craft, hunting and exploring what is quite a massive post-apocalyptic cityscape," Kerr described, "You're looking for resources, bringing them back to your base, combining them to make better trade items and then working your way through a system of merchants to trade with. That's the baseline concept."
Strata Scavenger will be a new experience for Slant Six in that it'll be the first original IP the developer has ever worked on. The group previously worked on the SOCOM and Resident Evil series.
"It's a new IP for us, internally generated. We kind of wanted to look around for the company and diversify a little bit. We love working with major publishers and doing other people's IP - it's something we've done since the beginning of the company - but we also felt like branching out a little bit and doing something on our own," Kerr stated.
Slant Six expects to complete Strata Scavenger sometime in 2013.
