Finishing off Sony’s E3 press speech, CEO Jack Tretton announced a new title coming to the PS3.

Titled Massive Action Game, or “MAG”, this new game will feature Battlefield-like combat as they throw up to 256 players split into two teams in huge combat scenarios.

There will be no AI bots, and each side will be broken down into 8-man squads for more tactical gameplay. Other features include Character Growth, Vehicles, a cover system, and each match will be played in a single ‘persistent’ world.

The game is being created by Zipper Interactive, the guys who brought you SOCOM.

"It's not remotely possible anywhere else," says Tretton.

"There's nothing like it on the market today."

MAG is pegged for release sometime next year.
GamersGate is a platform for downloadable PC games.

avatar Great news for Console gamers. 256 players, now that's what I call a battle. Wonder what the lag will be like, and what problems will arise from so many gamers joining on one IP address.

avatar I'm sure they have a solution for the ping problem. They wouldn't say 256 if they hadn't.
