Indie developer Depth Team has been working on their first person shooter for over a year, and, during this past Game Developers Conference, unveiled the latest gameplay video of their title, Depth.

What does this multiplayer shooter bring new to the genre? One team plays a group of SCUBA divers hunting for treasures in wrecked ships. The other side gets to play sharks, intent on ripping said divers to bloody chunks of chum in the water.

According to the developers, players take control of a 21 foot killer shark, while divers must use stealth tactics such as swimming in dense sea-weed, hiding in wrecks and remaining as silent as possible, as sharks patrol the area looking for some tasty meat.

Sharks can use sight, sound and smell to track their prey, detecting water disturbance and even the sound of hearts beating. When they get their prey, the game uses realistic limb dismemberment to depict getting torn apart by the monster fish.

Check out their latest gameplay trailer in the video below.

Interesting concept at least.

I'd die of terror while playing this :).
Nice idea, but a shark taking forever to bite a limb off is kinda silly though, probably because of balancing. Can easily be solved with multiple game modes though.

Actually, the balance is that the player has one less limb to use for weapons or swimming.
