An EVE Online FanFest Panel has been accused of being "in extremely poor taste", after it was found they were mocking a fellow player who was showing suicidal tendencies.

A presentation delivered by one of the CSM council members and moderated by a CCP employee featured an in-game communication between two Eve Online players where, according to accounts, one of the players clearly showed signs of severe depression.

"When this communication was shown to the audience the presenter, along with part of the audience of players and CCP representatives present all had a good laugh," said an EVE player who submitted a complaint. "The presenter went on to encourage other players of Eve Online to harass this player in the hope that he would eventually be compelled to act on his suicidal thoughts."

CCP has responded saying they will be launching an investigation into the matter, and have condemned the "abhorrent behaviour".

"I want to reassure you that CCP in no way condones the harassment of players, especially those who suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts, as we understand the possible consequences of such abhorrent behaviour," said a spokesperson for CCP.

This is what happens when people try to be trolls off the internet. No anonymity = you're responsible for your troll behavior.

hmmm...this is very disappointing. Why people mock at someone who had this depression...sometimes I just can not understand such behavior.

Why was he depressed anyway? he got divorced or something? or could be a hoax to make us believe that EVE could be the affect of suicide in the time of depression.

Which makes me think: Was the person arrested for harassment?
