Little Orbit has announced that the publisher will be adapting Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn fantasy novel series into a roleplaying game, Mistborn: Birthright. The RPG will be released in Fall 2013 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Mistborn is a gothic fantasy world of ash and mist, ruled by an immortal villain simply named "Lord Ruler". The world features Allomancy, a metal-based magic system in which practitioners known as Mistings consume, or "burn", metal to grant them new abilities. Most Mistings can each only "burn" a single kind of metal individually, but those who can "burn" them all are called the Mistborn.

Mistborn: Birthright will feature an original storyline by the author, who has experience with videogames. Sanderson wrote the story for Infinity Blade II (while writing a novel based on the game as well.) Players will take on the role of Fendin “Fiddle” Fathvell, an arrogant young nobleman who must quickly master his newfound Allomantic abilities to save his family from evil forces.

The RPG will feature a unique combat system that will give gamers the chance to perform Allomancy themselves.

The official site is now live, though at the moment fairly sparse, with basically just a mailing list registration, but it does feature interactive metal symbols, describing their power in the world of Mistborn.

Could be interesting - the main disadvantage is that it is a big 3 development so I hope they don't shaft the PC with a port...

A major RPG would sound good for this game. I never played the game, but it sounds similar to Skyrim.
