Developer Flying Squirrel Entertainment has announced that they will be officially releasing a fan-made mod for their strategy title Mount & Blade: Warband. The premium DLC, "Napoleonic Wars", will add over 220 unique units including engineers, artillery and... musicians in this 19th century era mod. The game also includes a "Commander Battles" mode in which the player is put in charge of a squad of bots.

"We re-made it completely from scratch: bigger, better and more," developer Flying Squirrel Entertainment explained in a forum post on Taleworlds' mod.

This isn't the first time Flying Squirrel adopted a fan-made mod for Mount & Blade and released it to the public. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword, a standalone expansion which was released last year, was also based on a mod.

Sounds Great! I hope you can control full units.. as a single Unit.. I mean all lined up and marching forwards? I mean, not just single soldiers?

But sounds GREAT!

Might finally give this venerable series a go, Roderick (after all of your voodoo magic you've been working on this here gamer hard-pressed for time). Bring out an American Civil War DLC and I'll be sold completely.

You need DLC for that? Have you any idea of the extent of the modding scene for Warband? Guaranteed that this DLC will give birth to more than one Civil War mod. We've been playing gunpowder games for ages, this DLC used to BE a mod!

Here be the 41st in the last Saturday night battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhBJLqWZ7v4&feature=plcp&context=C40c1b00VDvjVQa1PpcFNtI8RiYPszoFKIR3xcK0cPTGw7fDBADq0=

Also features me for about 3 seconds,as well as my premature death by bullet going unnoticed, so you know you HAVE to watch that!

Quite intense battle there, Roderick. Well done even though you succumbed to superior numbers (or was it superior tactics:p). I know of the Civil War Mods for just about every strat game out there, as there is a big one for "ETW". Just aren't the same without a full blown Campaign to accompany them.
You know, when I was young it was WWII, WWI fighter planes (or Scouts) and the Napoleonic Wars (and of course "Star Wars", natch!).
Didn't get into the Civil War era until well into my thirties and it just had me hooked. Saw the film "Gettysburg" a dozen times or even more in that period, and re-read the novel it was based on again the other day ("The Killer Angels" by Michael Shara). Brilliant strategies, desperate battles and incredible displays of courage, fortitude and tales of brotherly love and absolute hatred all rolled into one.
This period for me is still the one true Total War where a whole country was involved and no facet of it left untouched. Yes there have been others such as Afghanistan, Bosnia and France in 1814 but never on this scale.
Anyway, I'll stop blathering and let this get back on-topic:)

Paradox Publishes the games, Taleworlds makes them, And flying squirrel is the maker of Mount&musket. So that last bit should be taleworlds, not flying squirrel.
