During an interview at E3, EA CEO John Riccitiello has spilled the beans that a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMO is "in development".

The MMO space is becoming essential for games companies and Riccitiello is confident that Mythic's Warhammer Online and KOTOR will give EA great leverage for the future.

"We've got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development," said Riccitiello. The first is of course EA Mythic's Warhammer Online which recently announced cutting four major capital cities and four character classes for quality. "And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about -- in partnership with Lucas, coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry at the point when we get closer to telling you about it."

Is the second MMO the long rumoured Knights of the Old Republic Online? "Yes," he replied. Well there you have it, its official. Tah duh!

Read about this days ago, and it didn't generate a whole lot of enthusiasm from the SW fans at all. SW:Galaxies is still an awful reminder that this universe doesn't translate well from celluloid to cyberspace.

The biggest mistake is having EA also work on it. I dunno, I don't think it'll be better than the first 2 KotOR games. Not with EA's "help'' anyway.
