Microsoft announced tonight that its Games for Windows service will have its very own online games marketplace this fall, sounding similar to that of the Xbox 360's marketplace. The Games for Windows Live platform will now be free to developers and publishers looking to add PC multiplayer features to its games. “Previously, select publishers and developers used the system and had to pay for it – now, however, it’s free, we want to improve the velocity of how it is adopted” said Chris Satchell, CTP of Microsoft's Entertainment devices division. Oh that's not good for gamers. Trouble with Windows Live is that PC gamers don't like having to pat for MPl; we're used to playing it for free as it should be. |
