Ex-NetDevil developers Scott Brown and Ryan Seabury, who were responsible for the space sim JumpGate, have founded their own development studio, END! Games, and have revealed their new project on , Squad Wars. The devs have called it "Jumpgate Evolution Evolved".
Squad Wars is described as a "free-to-play team based space combat game" in which players "form a Squad and fly into harrowing dogfights and zero-G furballs as you vie for dominance of the stars against competing Squads."
Players will be able to gain rank, experience and cash to upgrade their ships, while hacking their "CoBot" will also upgrade in-flight support abilities. Gamers will be able to purchase unlocks for new fighters and more powerful weapons. The goal of the game is to vie for control of entire star systems in the name of interstellar conglomerates by "forging" a unique Squad.
According to the developers, they will be catering to different types of gameplay, including players who love to engage in massive dogfights while defending and attacking massive capital ships, players who enjoy trading and fending off pirates from taking their big score, or mining, and claiming their prime real estate. They promise that there will also be gameplay for players who don't have much time to play, such as five minute space runs with pirates chasing their tails.
END! Games is looking to raise $250K, and have raised almost $10K with 25 days of fundraising to go. Their Kickstarter page is located .
