Bioware Says SWTOR Server Merger A Possibility

Bioware's Daniel Erickson has said that Star Wars: The Old Republic might receive a server merger.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Erickson announced the number of concurrent subs playing at peak times has decreased. Although this is the case, the total number of subs hasn't gone down.

Erickson suggests server problems may be the reason for lower numbers, and that a server merger is possible, but not a priority right now.

“Nothing is off the table when it comes to making sure our communities are strong and active on each server.” said Erickson.

It is not just a possibility. It is a necessity and BioWare know it. The Forums are overflowing with this one request and many a player have abandoned their precious Lvl 50 Mains to join populated servers. The server model that Cryptic uses for "Champions Online" and "Star Trek Online" is the best yet, not Blizzard's model that BioWare has copied. It served the game well for the beta and early release when the population was high, but now it has dropped (and Subscriptions HAVE dropped, no matter what BioWare delude themselves with). This is the only way to keep the MMO going.

Well they do have to sugar coat things a bit, it would be a bit hard to admit that things are not going as well as pretty much everyone had hoped/thought.

Yes, but they're only deluding themselves. Once "Guild Wars 2" comes out I fear "SWTOR" will fade into obscurity. With all of the Forum posts already statig this, BioWare would be insane not to pull out all the stops to keep their player base, which is falling by the day.
