The Elder Scrolls Online officially announced

Bethesda has finally announced the long-rumored MMO version of their popular roleplaying series, The Elder Scrolls Online. The MMO is being developed by the newly formed ZeniMax Online Studios team, and it will take place a thousand years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The MMO encompasses all of Tamriel, with the main overriding story about the plot of the daedric prince Molag Bal trying to drag the entire world into his demonic realm.

The Elder Scrolls Online will be officially revealed as the cover story for Game Informer's June 2012 issue.

The creative effort of The Elder Scrolls Online is backed by game director Matt Firor, who was the talent behind Mythic Studios' Dark Age of Camelot, and Firor is setting his goals high.

"The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise," he promises.

The Elder Scrolls Online is planned for a 2013 release on PC and Mac OS.

I would have rather seem a Fallout MMO (hint hint), but this will do me just fine.

I doubt it will be even half as good as a singleplayer game would have been.

Having lost just about all interest in "SW:TOR" and wishing it had just been "SW:KotOR 3" I can't say my heart beats faster for this.

When I first played Oblivion, I always thought that it would be great if the game could have multiplayer online... not really in the sense of an MMO, just rather have something like Co-Op multiplayer to play with friends.

It always seemed like a great adventure, to have one or two friends exploring the world of (back then) Tamriel.

Considering that I have spent like close to 300 hours in Skyrim alone - and enjoyed it adding a bunch of raving dancing lunatics bidding for stupid items, talking about raids and levels and PvP's and n00b calling and - no thank you. Adding companions to TES was the worst part and punishment - adding more people that will get in your way seems really like a good idea - not.

Re-spawning mobs - shiver.

Elder Scrolls games with the option of co-op would be great, but not an MMO. MMOs simply can not provide the same level of immersion, it's not your world anymore, you are just another copy of everyone else around you.

To quote a wise man "Re-spawning mobs - shiver".
That alone is enough to show that your actions mean nothing, nothing can ever be changed no matter how hard you try. Almost a description of hell.

If they keep the SP game map layouts (i.e. one big seamless world), I'll probably take a look. If it ends up like Kingdoms of Amalur or SWTOR, with their 'loading tunnels', I'm not interested.

I'm with all the lads asking for co-op mode. And same response as Longsword's for the MMO.

I officially hate this now :http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/898195-first-elder-scrolls-online-screens-and-trailer

It's basically WoW all over again. Hotbar for skills, turn-based combat and everything.
By unsilviu (SI Core) on May 06, 2012

WoW isn't turn-based...

It is, round based if you want to be semantic

At least they could have kept the action combat :(

I'll just wait for "Skyrim - GOTY" thanks all the same. Bethesda combined with MMO - ugly and persistently annoying, not a good combo.

Copy and paste mechanics and graphics and then slap on some over-generalized dung to make it sound like the great Jedi's I mean knights of the Old Nine - er - you know what I mean can come and save the day...

No thank you.

With "SW:TOR" subs sliding and set to slip even further with "Tera" and "Guild Wars 2" all set to invade I don't see this is a good time to start thinking "Fallout/TES" MMO. The latest gamer polls have "SW"TOR" subbers leaving by the roves, some returning to "WoW" others just waiting for "Tera".
Me, I'll just unsub after my free month post Patch 1.2 as for what is basically a SP MMO, it is sorley lacking in the endgame.

It's been in production since 2007, apparently.

Offtopic: What happened to your avatar, hero?!

He felt like a change in colour and era. So back to the time of the Trojan Wars for Herodotus....for a bit, anyway:)
Might stick one up of the actual Herodotus next....

Pff a change, it's still a picture of some guy.
Use a girl avatar and make this sausage-fest of avatars more bareable. I feel like everyone is staring at me and i need someone to take some of the pressure off of me :).

Lets face it, no matter what mask you wear, once Jason appears, everyone is scared s h i t l e s s. Even the guy with the scary mask.

Well Jamie Lee did quite the job on ole Mikey Myers sveral times over...til he gutted her in "H2O". She might still be around the ridges.

nah, her merits is only staying alive - not being able to kill off one guy with that many tries doesn't make her look good ;)I was thinking of fighting fire with fire and perhaps call a crime scene and get Dexter or someone...

Hmmmm.... who would do a great job against Jason, who lived in the 80's.... Rambo!!! He would do a great job. He took on the military by himself, so he should prove a worthy opponent against Jason.
By FoolWolf (SI Elite) on May 11, 2012

Rambo - or Arnold do seem like very competent choices!

I'm on my second avatar so far i think, I had the Borg queen at some point, but Osaka is cooler than that lame queen dying to a "future" virus like a noob.
