Gamers who pre-loaded their English or German digital copies of Diablo III have downloaded incomplete versions of the game, Blizzard has warned. The company advises those users to get a new downloader to install the proper files before the game goes live on the 15th May.

Those that downloaded the installer after 9:00AM GMT today need not worry - their version of the installer is fine.

To get the new installer, players should visit the official Battle.net page here.

They're lucky they found this in time, I don't want to imagine the storm if they were too late :).

Is it a complete new download or does the old one get fixed? it would be kinda weird if people had to download everything again.

The new installer just installs the missing files.

The nice thing about Blizzard posting the installers is that we who preordered the retail Collector's Edition can now preload the game too. ^^

Agree with herodotus on this one,it`ll be hell on day one because they`re servers won`t be able to handle all the trafic. How do i know this?Because when i played the beta i had LAG in the game, yes lag in a friggin` single player game.I have no idea what blizzard were thinking when they put drm in this game.

Around Wednesday... we will know for sure. I am actually not stressed out about this, because I am willing to wait until the weekend to play, which is probably enough time to fix any lag related issues.

Any ways, I am sure that Blizzard thought about these things for launch, otherwise they are busy digging their own grave.

There are several things to consider:
-Theoretically, there could have been more people in the server stress test than bought the game, since it was free; it is, however, unlikely.
-It IS blizzard. They have more experience than anyone else on this matter, after 4 WoW launches. I'm pretty sure if they thought there would be problems at launch, they'd have delayed the game another year...
