According to the official Battlefield 3 Twitter feed, this weekend's Double XP Weekend for the PC version of Battlefield 3 has been delayed two weeks to the weekend of the 26th May.

The BF3 tweet states, "In order to give you a full weekend as planned, we will be rescheduling this for May 26-27 (PC)."

DICE cited technical issues for the delay, but one must wonder if Electronic Arts and DICE realized there were almost no official servers available thanks to tons of them being rented out?

Wait so you don't get xp unless you're playing on official servers?
That makes that other news about not enough of them being available completely different.

Assuming the XP really matters. I'm assuming unlocking gear or something.

I didn't know that either, i thought any server would give you "some" XP.

Unless it's really massively important like unlocking all the gear etc, in that case the servers are important. Although I don't see the reasoning behind not allowing XP gain on rented servers, provided they use "standard" game settings.

Fix the bloody game EA! Bloody double XP and I still crash after 10-30 mins. Stuff it where it doesn't shine!

Haven't played in a very long time, as the constant crashes, weapon imbalances and cheating had me on the verge od throwing thongs at my monitor. If I wanted that much frustration in my life I'd go get re-married.
Now of course you can just buy all the unlocks - there is no need to earn them, just go to the Origin Store. Takes all sense of achievement out of what was already a tough ask for the most patient and persistent.
