Firaxis Games' XCOM: Enemy Unknown is in homage to the original XCOM strategy formula, and the team in yet another developer diary explain how they're making it 'modern'.

While it's still turn-based, the battles 'appear real-time' with today's technology giving us greater freedom and control. XCOM: Enemy Unknown releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC this year.

Firaxis are huge XCOM fans and their project was quite a surprise as before the only revival of the series was an XCOM shooter from 2K Marin, now delayed into 2013.

Is limited ammo still out of the picture? Don't like that. Limited ammo was one of the key features. Even though it was annoying, it was real and I'm worried that they kicked that out. Overall gameplay remains to be seen. I am however feeling positive still about this release. Because I have to. I can't and wont think about the possibility of them *crewing up this release. And it does _look_ good.
