Blizzard had announced that the real-money Auction House for Diablo III would be delayed from its 22nd May launch. The publisher has revealed that the Auction House would debut a week later on the 29th.

The real-money Auction House will allow players to buy and sell items for actual currency, with Blizzard taking a cut on the sales.

Diablo III was released worldwide on the 15th May for PC and Mac.

Very much a bif nod to the "WoW" auction house, it remains to be seen whehter this really sould have been left as a third party sider to the game as with "D2". If you're into it, then good. I foy're not....well what are disadvantages?

The disadvantages are that your gear is worse than others, this is pretty much buying power.Well i did say D3 is gonna be the new WoW(at least in terms of how much money it can bring Blizzard) and it looks like i`m right.

But it's signleplayer...why do you care you don't have the best gear?

"Diablo II" was the same with many spending hundreds of dollars gearing up in 3rd party stores. Blizzrad not only is endorsing it this time in "D3" but promoting it and appealing to the most anal of gamers (like "TF2" dudes and their blooody hats). It will mostly appeal to the Soth Korean market, but there will be smaller ineterest from other countries. A shame really.

I'm not really thrilled with this for money in-game trading either, somehow it just feels wrong for a game.

Herodotus last i checked the south korea version of the game will not have the auction house but who knows...

Sir Roderick the only answer i can think of right now is this:people are stupid, they want to have the best whether they need it or not,but if this game will ever have fights between players, which blizzard will probably do further down the road, then people will as i said buy power.

Yea, it almost sounds as a f2p game except you have to pay for the game :).
Worst of both worlds.

Not that much interested in the Auction House.

Have to say im not so keen on this kind of thing. while i'm pretty liberal in the 'folks can spend their money how they want' kind of way i cant help but feel that from a multiplayer perspective it means a game rigged in favour of those with spending power- and, like in sport, it should be the skilled who prosper. I dont really play multiplayer though so im not overly concerned - but it does make you worry that the designers will have structured the game in a way as to capitalise on this kind of revenue stream and if that becomes apparent while playing it will irritate me no end.

South Korea has had the Auction House removed so it passed Laws pertaining to it's release, but when the Gov't sees they have much to gain through striking an accord with Blizzard I'll bet it comes in (might take 12 months, but it'll be there). All very political.
Blizzard are just too "WoW"-minded for my tastes. Next there will be Kung Fu Pandas.

We're paying them to screw us over from time to time, i'm pretty sure that makes them the wh**es :)

Just makes us particularly stupid I think.

Why particularly? Gamers are, when all is said and done, a pretty dopey bunch. One sight of a classy looking video clip, poster or case slip and the cash finds it's own way out of our wallets.
Publishers have a mantra that underscores all trailers for games:

Publisher: "Open your wallets and say after me: help yourself!"
Gamer's mental response: "Help yourself"
Publisher: "Thank you very much....I will".

....and we do (with apologies to Spike Milligan).

I won't disagree on that one. Gamers aren't actually some of the brightest people on this world, even I am guilty when it comes to the awesome trailers and cool stuff.

I think that we are simply too lenient with the products and services we are sold. Then again - we all more or less use Google, Bing etc daily. We have advertised companies riding piggy back on our personal life - where we shop, where we dine, what we see, what we buy etc. then they sell that info to anyone willing....

We just say: make our lives easy and we no longer care.

As soon as someone say something about all the checks and info collecting taking place you are paranoid, tin-foil hat - or it is rather your fault for being too demanding and what can you expect - it is difficult making a game etc etc.

if I pay for example 400 SKR for a pair of headphones, they are labeled as Hi-FI and they are supposed to deliver excellent sound and they don't - I return them.
A game with the same statement fails to live up to that and you have to wait for possible patches, servers, or in worst case nothing at all and since you are not "buying" the games there are no return options in many countries.
Also, many reviewers have the dubious honors of writing a review and taking sponsor money for the same game ;) Sure - there are others out there but in gaming, this is more in your eye then in many other areas. In the end - we have to realize that gamers are needy addicts and they are buying unfinished products and it would seem the general gamer hates everyone else - which makes MMORPG's quite interesting as concepts ;)
Buying a game is a game in it self.

With Blizzard this time - it is a game just to get connected some days. The other days I was disconnected every 15 minutes and each time I lost about 5 minutes of game-play and changes done. Something you should expect and accept with a product that has been developed for 12 years and cost you real money?
Solution - play on Europe servers - problem - all my progress and characters are on the Americas servers...

Ah, well, if we just don't accept everything thrown at us and can keep a healthy dialouge - oh damn - we are all doomed... ;)

Go have a nice lie down their Wolfy old chap, your work is done.
But you are right - if I'd taken back half the games and games-related products (Razer Lycosa for one) I've bought I'd have screamed blue bloody murder at the shopkeep by now, and sworn off ever buying their merchandise again.

I have posted my "Guide to Men" on the Community Page, btw. Please feel free to add Gents...tired of having to listen to Women's rules.
