As planned, Wargaming.net has announced that the closed beta for the World War II flight combat free-to-play MMO World of Warplanes has begun, with "an expanded amount of in-game content, including new warplanes, maps and other features".

Players selected to engage in the beta include gamers from Europe, North America and Russia, fighting with four warplane classes, including fighters, ground-attack planes, heavy fighters and carrier-based aircraft. The classes include 59 different warplanes from Germany, the United States and the U.S.S.R.

Combat will range across four unique maps, where not only will pilots engage in dogfights, but deal with anti-aircraft guns and other ground targets.

Wargaming.net will be recruiting players during the closed beta as well, while an in-game tutorial will help new players polish their skills.

Players interested in joining the World of Warplanes beta can apply at the official site here.

I hope I get in as well. Signed up a while ago. I'm looking forward more to World of Battleships though...

They'll continue to add people during the beta.

The closed beta has an interesting application form. Do they invite people with "better" answers first?

I wonder that too, cause I did not really bother with that part :)

Again no UK machinery, aka the most important nation next to the Germans when it comes to WW2 air battles.
