A new rumor has started to circulate that Microsoft will be launching an app for tablets and mobile called the Xbox Live Companion that will stream additional content in collaboration with a game running on the Xbox 360 via WiFi.

While the app will work for all Xbox Live users, Gold subscribers will get additional "enhanced features".

Microsoft's E3 2012 press conference will be launching in just over two hours, so this rumor of an OnLive-style app will be confirmed or refuted soon enough.

Stay tuned.

Hang on, are we talking spectating or are they ecpecting someone to play on the mobile? Becsaue that last one would be insane.

I...don't know what that means. Like a phone-version of the game, but with exclusive content? I think I'm overthinking this.

They explained it at the conference. And it's for everything. For example, if you watch a movie on your 360, the device will show off all of the information about the movie.

If you play Madden, you can actually use the touch screen to write up plays on the fly.
