E3 2012: Framerate issues slowing Dark Souls port to PC

From Software isn't having an easy time bringing the brutal console hit Dark Souls to PC, so much so that there won't be any optimization options for users as the developer struggles with frame rate issues.

According to producer Daisuke Uchiyama, "To be completely honest, we're having a tough time doing it due to our lack of experience and knowledge in terms of porting to PC. First we thought it would be a breeze, but it's turned out not to be the case. We're still developing right now - we're crunching right now."

It isn't just the PC port that is having frame rate issues. Uchiyama went on to apologize that the developer hasn't had time to fix those issues with the console version. "In terms of the frame rate for say, Blighttown, From Software sincerely apologises for that happening (in the console version)," Uchiyama apologized.

However, PC gamers will have a reason to pick up Dark Souls, as From has "prioritised adding new content for both original players and new players." Said new content will feature around 10 hours for a "reasonably skilled" gamer.

"We have three new venues, four new bosses and additional weapons," Uchiyama announced, along with a previously never-seen character Artorias, as the player will be transported 300 years in the past. Uchiyama promised, "In the console version only the name of Artorias has been brought up, but in the new content you'll actually see him as a character."

The Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will be landing on PC on the 31st August.

You want it done now or do you want it done right?

We,, I already felt a bit put off by this title due to the really difficulty of the game itself - but having that and a lousy (just speaking of statistic experience) port on top definitely kills the idea of getting this one.
There should be a new petition to show them that quality matters and that they should make it work properly. If PC players have waited this long to get a game like this - a few more months is nothing - just look at how long we waited for Diablo 3... ;)

I had enough trouble with "The Witcher" (combat system, mainly) so I'd be way out of my depth with this one, enticing as it is.
