Valve Software revealed at E3 2012 that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be hitting Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on the 21st August of this year. The game will be priced at 1200 Microsoft Points ($14.99 USD).

"CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay pioneered when Counter-Strike was launched almost 13 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999)," Valve pronounced in the email. "CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO introduces new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more."

It's mildly surprising the game is a digital release at a budget price. Let us know what you think.

Will be nice to see this one launch - with the new workshop and ease to use mods - I can already sense that "vanilla" GLOPS will be played mostly by competetive twitchshooters and consoles and the rest will launch into mod-heaven :)
