Civilization V: Gods & Kings dev diary shows off the new civs

The Civilization V expansion Gods & Kings will be released on the 19th June, and Firaxis has released a new dev diary "Lead Your Civ to Greatness," which shows off each of the new civilizations that will be included in the expansion, such as Russia, the Netherlands, and the Mongols.

The dev diary features lead designer Ed Beach and lead producer Dennis Shirk, who describe how they came up with ways to make the new civilizations not only distinct and well-balanced, but how they were molded to make them behave as their real-life counterparts did in the past.

For instance, the Carthaginians arose from the Phoenicians, so they have a stress on both trade and seafaring. They also are the only civ that can travel over mountains, as they did when attacking the Romans back in antiquity.

Check out the developer diary in the video below. Strategy Informer's review of the expansion will be going live on the 18th June.

Even with what amounts to, with vouchers, a 35% discount on GMG.com I'm not tempted. Too many video crashes with the base game that were never addressed finally had me uninstalling the game. Few other things I didn't like about it either, and frankly this won't re-float my boat.
Never did get used to nor like the taking away of the ability to multi-stack on one tile. Made sieges unnecessarily tedious and costly.

I agree Hero - CIV V was a let down... Still thinking about reinstalling Civ III - but I have too many other games to play...
