BioWare's Dragon Age Legends becomes downloadable free game

EA and BioWare have decided to repackage their browser-based Dragon Age Legends, which featured on Facebook and Google+, as a singleplayer game free to download and play.

The online aspects of the title were shut down after it failed to meet expectations. However they'll make online character profiles available soon for those who had them.

In order to enjoy this free game you'll need Adobe Air installed. In Dragon Age Legends we control a small party, go adventuring, battle foes and manage a castle of our own.

“If you have played the online version of Dragon Age Legends on either Facebook or Google+, you will soon be able to download your character as a Saved Game and continue playing in the single-player game," announced the official website. It originally launched to compliment Dragon Age 2. The game weighs in at 170MB.

Time that was used to make this would have been spent much better on the main game.

Not really. This was developed by a social network developer, not BioWare.

It still took some resources, they could have spent that on hiring extra help on the main game.

But I don't really blame Bioware cause it's obvious that they themselves were rushed.

Not a huge fan of browser-based games, while "Battlestar Galactica Online" continues to improve with each evolution. Think I'll be giving this a miss though, no matter that it's free.

"It still took some resources, they could have spent that on hiring extra help on the main game."

It took NO resources. It was a company purchased by EA, and none of the personnel nor resources used for it were taken from Dragon Age II. It was basically an advertisement for DA2.

But it still took *some* resources :)

I doesn't matter if it was 50$ or 500$, it wasn't 0. Even if this wasn't taken *from* the game it could have been added *to* it instead of making this.

It's not like I don't get what you're trying to say, but considering how starved for content DA2 turned out to be those few $ could have been spent on hiring *extra* help to make a single new cave in the game or something.

Best news regarding Dragon Age for a long time IMO. Seems that the webbased game got more fame and stamina than Dragon Age 2 ;)

nocutius, the problem with dragon age 2 wasn't the $$. You need time to spend money. The main problem there was that it was incredibly rushed.

True there are diminishing returns but more money means you can have more people working on the game which in turn means that more stuff gets done in the same amount of time. So more money would in this case turn into more stuff in the game, not a lot cause they were simply rushed way to much, but we'd at least get *something* extra.
