Wargaming.net racks up E3 awards for World of Warplanes

Wargaming.net racked up the awards at this past E3 2012 in Los Angeles, which was held from the 5th June to the 7th. The publisher held 10,000 square feet of space with 50 gaming stations devoted to World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.

Teasingly, there was also a World of Battleships banner, but the media booth stated that this was its only presence on the floor.

"We're extremely pleased with the recognition our games and booth received at this year's E3 Expo," said Wargaming.net CEO Victor Kislyi. "Last year, World of Tanks made an impressive statement with attendees, and now, that game is passing the baton to World of Warplanes. The scale of attention Warplanes managed to attract shows that the title will soon soar to the greatest heights."

World of Warplanes itself earned several awards including Best Hybrid MMO by MMORPG.com, Most Innovative MMO from MMORPGItalia.com, Best MMO from 9lives.be and Best Action MMO from Goha-ru.

Strategy Informer tried out World of Warplanes as well, and while it didn't have any awards to hand out for anyone, declares it a "right promising flight combat sim".

World of Warplanes is currently in closed beta with a late 2012 release date planned.

Anyone in the beta?
How are the grind and the matchmaker? How about the randomness in the success of your attacks?

Not in the beta, but have friends who are and are enjoying themselves immensely (already formed a Clan for the upcoming full release). I'll try it out, but I am far more interested in "World of Battleships" (might give "Navy Field" a run for it's money, depending on how much real cash will be involved). Been playing "Rise of Flight" and "IL2: CoD" MP over the past two years too much to really be overly enthused in "WoW" (a new "WoW" - yeeha).
