Blizzard has warned gamers that Diablo III will be down tonight as the major 1.03 patch is being implemented. The maintenance will run from 6:00PM PST (2:00 AM GMT) and will take roughly 10 hours.

According to community manager "Takralus", "If you are logging in from a European or Asian client, you will need to wait for this patch to release in that region before it can be installed. Additionally, if your home region is the Americas, you will be unable to log into Europe or Asia using Global Play after patch 1.0.3 is live until those regions have also patched."

Two weeks ago, Blizzard detailed the 1.03 patch changes, stating it would "rock the boat".

I don't even play Diablo III, yet the amount of downtime this game is forcing on its owners is annoying me...

True, it kinda sucks that a SP game can have this much downtime :)

Bad news for gamers, and another striking cross against Blizzard's constant online connection design. This is a SP game, Blizz not a bloody MMO.

The good thing is, it can give some of these gamers off time from Diablo. xD

Well, I tried to move to European servers a few days ago - since Blizzard says they run flawless and without connection errors - but they are extremely laggy! Makes playing a pain with stuttering and glitching, you run a distance only to have to run it once more when the synch catches up.

Diablo3 is a nice game - but the implementation and the always online is absolute crap IMHO.
