Famtisu magazine reports that Yakuza 5 will include some mini-games to populate its open-world adventure, and they're playable through specific characters like Kazuma Kiryu racing taxis.
Taiga Saejima will go off hunting wild animals, Tatsuo Shinada likes himself some baseball and Haruka Sawamura wants to be a Japanese idol. The next Yakuza is due out this December.
Each of these mini-games is given a backstory as to why the characters have taken them up. Taiga Saejima for example who was stranded on a mountain and nearly froze to death.
Kazuma Kiryu starts as a taxi driver in Fukuoka and then comes across the 'Devil Killer' street race group who challenge him. We'll be able to pick and drop off passengers outside the races too. Haruka Sawamura meanwhile is training to become an idol and competes in the 'Princess League' tournament; it's a rhythm based events.
Tatsuo Shinada reunites with a high school friend who gets him to agree to a batting contest, as well as find his former coach and improve his skills. Yakuza 5 releases on PS3 this December in Japan.
