Blizzard has announced the date for UK fans to compete in the StarCraft II World Championship Series UK Nationals, which are set in London. They will take place June 30th and July 1st.

16 players will duke it out "to be crowned the UK champion" and go on to represent the nation in the StarCraft II World Championship Series Europe Finals. $15,000 prize fund on offer.

After the heart-breaking performance of England's football team, the nation needs something to rally around so why not StarCraft II strategists? It'll be good for morale I'm sure.

The 16 competitors have all received an "all-expenses-paid trip" to London to attend the UK Nationals by winning open qualifiers hosted on the Electronic Sports League website. Blizzard are also providing a $15,000 prize fund as well as three "coveted spots" at the Europe Finals, to be held in September.

The UK Nationals will take place at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly with over a thousand expected to turn up for the two days spanning June 30th and July 1st. The StarCraft II event will be broadcast live over the Internet on ESL TV, with Nick Plott and Dan Stemkoski providing commentary. Check out the ESL website for more information.
