English-born actress Camilla Luddington has been confirmed as the new "voice and performance actress" of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider title.

Luddington, who recently played Kate Middleton in a US drama, is best known for her appearances in True Blood, was picked after an extensive search by the team at Crystal Dynamics.

Ultimately, she landed the job on the back of being able to deliver a "depth of emotion and the youthful tone needed for Lara Croft in the upcoming reimagining of the Tomb Raider franchise".

"This has been one of the most important jobs for us to get right," said Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics.

"This Tomb Raider game is very different to any other and we are demanding far more from the voice and performance acting than ever before as we take the franchise in a new direction."

Luddington will appear on Nerd HQ and Comic-Con panels in San Diego next month to discuss her new role.

Tomb Raider is currently set to release on 5th March 2013.

So how was "Kate and William", Nick? C'mon, give us a review:)
I've only seen her in the opening episodes of "True Blood" but she certainly has the voice for it (not quite the bod though).

Fortunately I'm UK based, so didn't have to sit through it. The real thing was bad enough! :P

Looks nothing like either Kate or Lara...must all be in the voice, and yes Australia went 'Kate and William' mad for a bit - tragic.

If she can provide a strong voice for Laura Croft that actually reflects her intelligence and isn't just sexy (though, please the last part is nice too ;) ) Then I'll be happy.
