BioWare launches Star Wars: The Old Republic Free Trial, play up to level 15

EA and BioWare have launched a Free Trial option for Star Wars: The Old Republic, which lets any newcomer enjoy the MMO with "no charge or time limit" constricting their adventure.

The Free Trial accounts are capped at level 15, but users can enter PvP and group up for Flashpoints. Those who've previously had a free taster are eligible too.

Playing up to level 15 gives you the chance to try out a character classes' origin world as well as your faction’s capital. The free play time doesn't expire when you hit 15, you just can't level up.

"Now you will be able to live out your very own Star Wars saga with thousands of other players up to level 15 with no charge or time limit!" announced BioWare.

"The Star Wars: The Old Republic Free Trial allows individuals, without a previously active Star Wars: The Old Republic game account, to see a portion of what the game has to offer with no payment method required." Each of the 8 character classes are open to Free Trial users.

"Players will explore their classes' Origin World, and may even have the opportunity to visit their faction’s Capital World! Additionally, Free Trial players will have the chance to face off against other players in Player-vs.-Player Warzones, or join up with friends and play through a Flashpoint."

I'll give it a try but at a later date, the summer will be dedicated to Mechwarrior and Diablo :).

I`d like to give this a try but my concern is origin,if enough people tell me it`s safe i`ll consider it,otherwise i`ll just wait for KoToR 3

Don't let Origin put you off Dan, as it has nothing to do with the game (the game, like most others aside from "BF3" does not need Origin running to play). In fact Origin has nothing to do with playing, unless you wish to lauch the game using it.

Trouble is, you will reach Lvl 15 in no time at all and you will not have access to Speeder bikes or Space Battles. It's a bit of a hook to try and get new players, as the player base has really dropped off markedly. Unless you are really into group missions, the focus of this MMO despite what was initially planned (as a sort of "KoTOR 3"), then once you've hit Lvl 50 (a great romp while it lasts) there'll little incentive to play anymore.

I'd definitely recommend playing to Lvl 50 if you could buy the base game for a cheap price - you will get your money's worth from the subs.
I'd go back to it if the story arcs are expanded on, but Group Flashpoints and Operations aren't my thing. I'm getting all kinds of offers of goodies from EA if I re-sub....quite pathetic in it's own way.

Oh?I`m getting it right now if origin`s not necessary,i thought you needed it which is why i never bought the game,i don`t want that spyware rummaging through my things.

But i do see your point i`m not interested in raids with this game,i want the story, nothing more, maybe i`ll wait till it`s free.

No, Origin is only ever needed to run with "BF3". The rest you just play as normal. The storyline was good for my main character, but when I capped-out at 50 there was so much story yet to evolve yet it was left in favour of the usual MMO group questing (*gag*). With the Legacy System there is so much that could further a story (my Sith and Jedi are half-brothers for example, but what can I do with that....nothing).
"STO" is my best example of how to allow a player to enjoy a SP experience at all times, delving into group play only when you feel like it. The latter is not required to progress and gain elite gear though, and new story content is always being added as a "Season", much like TV containing Episodes. A myriad of other SP missions are also always available through exploration, diplomacy and combat. This was there all before it went F2P.
