Zombie survival mod Day Z for Bohemia's ArmA 2 has rocketed to over half a million users, reveal creators. That's through all the "tough times, mistakes, troubles, and technical problems".

Day Z creator Dean Hall attended Rezzed last weekend, where the player count figure floated around 420k. The day before that is was just 400k. They run 22k concurrent users.

During their off peak time they have around 10k, which are "pretty huge numbers considering the original data structure and system was designed to handle 100 concurrents, and two servers."

"Congratulations everyone, with your support through tough times, mistakes, troubles, and technical problems, we now have over 500k users!" twittered the development team.

Day Z is a radical mod for Arma 2 turning the military simulator into a zombie survival sim, with everything to worry about including what intentions other players in the world have towards you. For more info visit the official website.

I hope this guy gets a share from the boosted ArmA2 sales, he totally deserves it.

This mod looks great but you really need to play it with someone I don't want to play it alone with only strangers, which means I need to buy multiple copies for friends, which in turn means I have to wait for a decent sale :).
