Kingdoms of Amalur "was terrific" and EA "hope there's a sequel" someday

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau has said the publisher is very open to the idea of more Kingdoms of Amalur, if that's possible, because the original "was terrific" to play through.

What happened with 38 Studios was "unfortunate" as EA saw "a lot of creativity and vision" in Curt Shilling's development team. Gibeau is hopeful the IP might survive to see another day.

Before the collapse of the studio, a sequel was said to have been in the pre-production phase. The IP remains with 38 Studios, but rumour has Big Huge Games cooking up something.

"I think it's unfortunate how everything worked out," Frank Gibeau told GameInformer. "At the end of the day we saw a lot of creativity and vision in the team that Curt put together. We thought the game was terrific. It reviewed well."

"We built a good business there and hope there's a sequel to it someday. We'd love to be a partner for that."

It likely won't be Kingdoms of Amalur but BHG is said to be pondering over a game with similar mechanics as their way of preserving the legacy; a spiritual successor. Kingdoms of Amalur sold 1.2 million units. Big Huge already did something similar when bought by 38 Studios from THQ, as they used their Ascendant RPG to drive Amalur.

Holy shit people stop praising this game,it was an offline mmo which is the worst type of game cause it`s whole purpose is to get better gear to show off,but there`s no one to show off to you morons.

Also intuitive and free-flowing combat??? Yeah that`s why i had to wait a full second after attacking to change my weapon or cast a spell.

The ONLY good thing about this game was it`s weapon variety though for some reason you can`t use spears, wtf is it with everyone`s hate of spears? You had xena`s weapons but no spears? How does that work?

The game was shit pure and simple and even if it was an mmo it would still flop, because there`s nothing truly interesting and unique.

Mate, we are all entitled to forming our own opinion. KoA could be the starting point of a great franchise. Sure, the maps were waay too large and the game needed another layer of polishing in almost every aspect, but it just felt right.
It reminded me of the original Assassin's Creed. Both KoA and AC were a tad bit unrefined and lacking games (in their time), but they formed such a great base for a new franchise. It's just sad that the Amalur IP was lost, and wasn't given a chance to evolve, like the AC.

Please do not compare AC to this crap. AC was unique in pretty much every way,Amalur is not,it has zero uniques features.

I know very little about this game, other than some like it, while others don't.

From trying the Demo and watching a lot of YouTube vids - I'm with danfreeman and Hero on this - what is he inhaling?
Also, I can't for the love of me get whay people love the AC series that much? I found the gameplay and mechanics to be just horrible!
Ah well, assholes and opinions...

Each to their own I guess, because I actually enjoyed Assassin's Creed... though I only played the first one.

Nothing wrong with enjoying it SiyaenSokol - it's just that I can't understand all the hubbub around it... :)
