Ironclad Games has revealed the first hero in the developer's upcoming MOBA-RTS hybrid Sins of a Dark Age, Vallamere the Imperial Knight.

According to official description, "Descending from a long line of Knights in the Imperial Captial of Calan, Vallamere earned his knightship in the defense of the northwestern front from early Horen raids. An ambitious squire in his uncle's regiment, he left home as a promising upstart and returned as a man...and a legend. Though certainly a capable soldier on the battlefield, Vallamere's true strength lies in his ability to inspire those around him to overcome the enemy with a unified might and an unshakable morale. Fighting with honor, sometimes to a fault, allies gladly follow his lead and enemies always respect him. Immensely protective of his homeland and its traditions, Vallamere is an incorruptible local hero and is emulated by children all across the empire…"

Sins of a Dark Age will have players joining an online team, with one taking on the role of a Commander and the rest as a small group of Heroes. Players will work together to accomplish a specific scenario goal. The game features both player vs. player and co-op gameplay against the AI. Vallamere is only one of dozens of heroes with unique abilities.

Be great if we could get a SI team playing this. Perhaps with the new feature coming it might be possible.

I've never played a MOBA before. I know this is a hybrid MOBA/RTS, but still new to me.

I'm serious Hero, look at it. Trailer feels like a bad Hollywood movie trying to be AAA, and animation, with the only one same attack move.

I know Chosen, it looks like they've skimped in the eye candy department but that is deceiving as the gameplay is MP-only, fast and furious. A few quotes from the Devs:

"Sins of a Dark Age is powered by the Iron Engine 2 which is a next generation engine based on the stable and proven Iron Engine used in Sins of a Solar Empire. They are not the same engine as each was specifically designed for the specific demands of their unique gameplay requirements and for the current state of hardware."

"Just like Sins of a Solar Empire, Sins of a Dark Age was designed to run on a wide variety of hardware. Time and again we receive emails about how surprised people are to be able to play Sins of a Solar Empire on such old hardware and even on machines that didn't meet the minimum requirements. Our new Iron Engine 2 continues this trend. We will release more specific requirements at a later date."

I like the look of it for a team-based Action-RTS and if you'd like to know more here is the home page:
