Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy XIV is being re-launched as a fully redesigned title, rebranded as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn; Square-Enix had previously referred to the reboot as "Version 2.0".

The publisher purports that the MMO has been "rebuilt from the ground up", and deals appropriately with "the core concept of rebirth."

According to Final Fantasy XIV producer/director Naoki Yoshida, “Since announcing our plans for the future of the title last October, we have been working tirelessly to include all of the elements that we have promised in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. This new title not only becomes a symbol of a completely new FINAL FANTASY XIV, but also marks the beginning of a new stage as the latest title in the FINAL FANTASY series. I hope you’re looking forward to it!”

Check out the relaunch trailer and let us know if you are willing to give Final Fantasy XIV a second chance.

The only positive thing I can say about FFXIV 1.0 was the reviews made me laugh out loud for a long time.

Having never played it I can't give it a second chance.

FFXI was a truly appalling game. Worst UI ever and gameplay so stultifyingly dull it made EQ1 look like GW2.
