Paradox Interactive has announced a new dungeon building game developed by Cyanide, Impire, which is a spinoff of the city-building sim Majesty. Players will build a lair with their mischevious imps, and protect it against invading heroes with minions, traps and spells.

According to the press release, "Impire tells the sordid tale of Báal-Abaddon, a once-mighty horror from the Bottomless Pit, who finds himself summoned by the incompetent sorcerer, Oscar van Fairweather, and trapped in the form of a laughable imp."

However, the player-controlled imp still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and sets out to set himself free from the spell while building a new dungeon to serve as the base of power for his new kingdom.

The official bullet-point list of features includes:

* User-designed dungeons filled with different room types and an assortment of deathtraps
* Minions of every shape and size to be leveled up and equipped with upgraded equipment
* A custom deck of magical item cards to be unlocked and built to suit any playing style
* The opportunity to squash pesky heroes beneath one’s hooves, and grind their souls into helpful dungeon-building resources
* A perilous campaign to be played in solo or co-op mode
* Many multi-player modes to confront and crush one’s so-called “friends”

Impire will try to recapture the magic of Dungeon Keeper on the Q1 2013 when it's released exclusively on PC.

Absolutely interested. Let's just hope it wont be too buggy at launch.

Damn, this looks good... I would love to play this, as I am a major fan of Dungeon Keeper.

By the way, does anybody know how to get it working on Windows 7, Dungeon Keeper that is? I tried recently, and also used a version called KeeperFX, though it didn't want to work.

Sounds like a cross between "Dungeon Defenders" and that other title I can't think of where you are a Dungeon Keeper who sets traps for unwary treasure hunters (not "DK", but something more recent).

While I agree this does look promising, I'm afraid the state of recent PI games on launch leaves me wary and a bit skeptical.

That's the one I was thinking of. Thanks Lich, and you're right - what a mess.

Damn, that is a pity to hear. I haven't played the game yet, but I thought that it might be great to play, since it looks a whole lot like Dungeon Keeper.

This one could be alright, Vet. I'd still keep my eye on it, but with PI at the helm it may launch in a bit of an untidy state (a reputation PI is getting very quickly).

aye paradox had the same thing with sword of the stars(formerly from Keberos Lighthouse) but that game came out very good after some patches same sh*t to Sots 2 and its getting on its way you have to be patient with them :)

Well, I've been patient with "Naval War Arctic Circle", but it still has no SaveGame feature (absolutley a game-killer) and was on sale on Gamersgate for $5 on the w/e. That doesn't inspire confidence.
"King Arthur II" is still poorly optimised as well and on it goes....

And it was poorly optimised as well....still is (besides taking hours longer than any other game to download and install). There's a whole list of PI games that fall under this umbrella of poor optimisation, some developed by them some published by them. Just because they cater to a niche market doesn't mean they have to let QA slip.

Exactly. Magicka was an awesome, if buggy and poorly optimised game.
