Dev: Diana's death crucial to Hitman Absolution

It's not a spoiler to reveal that agent 47's handler Diana Burnwood is dead in the game, and Hitman: Absolution director Tore Blystad stated that killing her off was a "tough" decision, but it will have a serious emotional effect on the bald hitman.

According to Blystad, “To bring emotion to a character like 47 there needs (to be) something really devastating to kind of shake him up. It was a tough decision."

"If you look at him, he’s always been told what to do, been more on other people’s missions (than his own)," he explained, stating, "So making this his game and about his decisions – enabling him to create the briefings on his own instead of having someone tell him what to do all the time – was the starting point, because then it would feel like the player was a bigger part of creating the story.

“And this emotional side is very closely attached to that. For him to have a reason to do something, there needs to be some sort of emotion behind it.”

Gamers will be able to find out how devastated Agent 47 is on the 20th November when the game is released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I don't remember the original story enough to know if this is a spoiler or not but i would have preferred to (re)learn this in the game.
That's why i avoid watching story trailers for most games/movies, they simply give too much away.

It's not a spoiler because the devs have been trumpeting this plot point for the past month LOL

I agree, this is a spoiler. I haven't been playing Hitman for a while, so I haven't got an idea of the things that happens, but I do remember Diana. Why couldn't they just leave it for the game, so that players could experience it for themselves.

I'm deleting this information from my hard brain.
For God's sake, this could be a great turning point for 47 in the game, and a moment to remember. And they spoiled it just to see how will community react to it.

An emotionally challenged and thus confused psychopath would make for a very interesting character to play indeed. Too much like real life perhaps?

Hero, do U remember who 47 is? Can U recall the first games and why he is emotionless guy?

47 is too awesome to go psycho or emo on us. I believe in this game.

Yes, I do remember his origins (I don't think too much grey matter has withered) however his training as clone, but he was never actually emotionless. So perhaps we call him a Sociopath instead as he was supposed to have little emotional response to what non-pathological psyches normally do. Yet he formed an attachment with a runaway lab rabbit that he adopted.
So yeah, I'd call him a potentially confused/conflicted Sociopath that is a bomb waiting to go off.
Now, Chosen lie back and tell me about YOUR childhood.....
